Spring Construction In Port Stanley

Spring construction in Port Stanley this year is different from last year, mostly due to some major construction projects in both East and West areas of the village. It would seem that Port Stanley's in the early stages of some major changes to it's landscape that will forever change it's identity.

Last years pace seemed fairly mild with only some final touches to the Carlow Road Bridge Street intersection, the Port Stanley Tourism Office and the Berm, to the ongoing new development along East Road. While this years construction seems to have shifted into full speed ahead with the George Street road network being redeveloped for Port Stanley's biggest new development and more in-fill housing development along East Road. Adding to all these new developments is some infrastructure improvements with changes to the areas power grid that will supply added power demands. Harbour lighting around the walkways and Hofhuis Park is underway and will be completed soon, along with the lifeguard main control tower.

Next inline for some change will be the Berm which is now ready for development. The Secondary Plan and public input will soon chart a course on how to transform that empty field into something more than just an open space for birds and will build a future of diversity that will increase tourism for the benefit of all.
