Donna Jean AWCOCK - $50,000 Reward

London, ON - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) continues to appeal for witnesses to come forward with information relating to the murder of Danna Jean AWCOCK.

The investigation into the homicide under the direction of CIB Detective Inspector Randy Wright remains open. The OPP is confident that someone in the community has vital information that would help point to the person or persons responsible for her murder.

Donna Awcock failed to return home from a babysitting job on Thursday, October 13, 1983 at an apartment on Cheyenne Avenue (known now as Oakville Avenue) in London Ontario. She was reported missing that same date.

Investigators discovered that she had left the apartment around 2:30 a.m., intent on buying cigarettes at a corner store. She never returned. Her body was located on Friday, October 14, 1983, approximately two (2) kilometres northeast of her home on the banks of the Thames River, just west of the Fanshawe Dam. The cause of death was manual strangulation.

Anyone with information into her murder is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or their nearest police authority. Should you wish to remain anonymous you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000. The Government of the Province of Ontario is offering a reward in the amount of $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the murder of Donna Jean AWCOCK.
