Weekend Brief for March 10, 2017 to March 12, 2017

Woodstock Police received 94 calls for service over the weekend.

Traffic Offence

On Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 9:00 p.m. Police stopped a vehicle in the area of Bruin Blvd. in the City of Woodstock. The driver was a 28 year old male from Drumbo. The male was driving with a suspended licence. He was subsequently charged for this offence and four other highway traffic offences. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days. The driver will answer to the charges on May 4, 2017.


On Sunday, March 12, 2017 shortly before 2:00 a.m. a 45 year old Woodstock man was driving a grey 2009 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on Drew Street, when he failed to stop for a stop sign at Riddell Street, crossed the roadway and struck the north west corner of a house on Mary Street in the City of Woodstock. The front end of the truck was crushed and both air bags deployed. The male driver was trapped in the vehicle. Woodstock Fire and Oxford EMS arrived shortly after. Woodstock Fire gained entry to the vehicle. The male was treated by paramedics at the scene. The investigating officer arrested and charged the male for impaired driving and having Over 80 mg of alcohol in his blood while driving. The male blew almost twice the legal limit. The male lost his licence for 90 days. His vehicle was impounded for 7 days and he will appear in court on March 28, 2017.

Traffic Offence

On Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. Police stopped a vehicle in the area of Dundas St. and Huron St. in the City of Woodstock. A 62 year old woman from Varna ON was charged under the highway traffic act with using licence plates not authorized and not having a validation sticker on the licence plate.
