February 7th, 2018 - Thanks to the keen eye of an alert citizen yesterday morning,
officers arrested two men in connection to a copper theft from the Elgin County
It all started when a local resident contacted police around 9 :15 am to report
seeing two men acting suspiciously around the building that houses the Railway Museum
on Wellington St. Officers attended the area and located two men who matched the
description given by the caller in the area of Talbot and John Streets. The men
were carrying 125 feet of copper wire with a value of around three hundred dollars.
The two were arrested and taken into custody without incident. The copper wire was
A thirty four year old St. Thomas man has been charged with one count of Possession
of Stolen Property and his forty four year old accomplice is charged with one count
of Possession of Stolen Property and one count of Breach of Probation. Both men
were later released on a Promise To Appear In Court.
