Elgin County, ON - On June 8, 2018 around 7:00 p.m. the Elgin County Ontario Provincial
Police (OPP) responded to a call of a 77-year-old male with vital signs absent in
the Kettle Creek River in Port Stanley Ontario near the lift bridge.
In the course of the investigation it was revealed that no foul play was suspected
in the death of this male.
On June 9, 2018 around 12:30 p.m. the Elgin County OPP were dispatched to a suicide
attempt in the area of West Edith Cavell Street in Port Stanley Ontario. St. Thomas
Elgin Paramedics and Central Elgin Fire also responded to the call. Paramedics revived
the 28-year-old male who was transported to hospital in life threatening condition.
On June 9, 2018 around 5:30 p.m. the Elgin County OPP responded to a call for service
in the area of East Beach in Port Burwell Ontario.
At this time people were cleared from the beach as police were dealing with a suicidal
male in his vehicle. The access to the beach area was closed at Robinson Street
for public safety.
Police were able to negotiate with the male, who was later apprehended under the
Mental Health Act. No one was injured in the course of this call and the male was
admitted to hospital.
On June 9, 2018 around 7:00 p.m. the Elgin County OPP were dispatched to a suicidal
male in the area of Jackson Line in Bayham Ontario. The 58-year-old male sustained
burns and was transported to hospital by St. Thomas Elgin Paramedics. Bayham Fire
also attended the scene of the incident.
On June 9, 2018 around 8:00 p.m. the Elgin County OPP were dispatched to a suicidal
male in the area of Richmond Road and John Wise Line. A 32-year-old male was located
and apprehended under the Mental Health Act. The male was transported to hospital
without injury and admitted.

People can walk-in at 110 Centre street St. Thomas, Ontario during regular business
hours (8:30 - 4:30) or walk-in at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital 24 hours,
7 days a week, at room 183.
