Disturbance Call Leads to Charges

Officers responding to a report of a disturbance between two men near the corner of Talbot and St. Catharine Streets last night around 9:30 pm resulted in police arresting one of the men for an impaired driving offence. The incident began when a concerned citizen called 911 to report the downtown disturbance. Just as officers arrived on scene they observed one of the men driving away from the area. The vehicle the male was driving struck a female pedestrian and headed northbound on St. Catharine Street. Officers stopped the vehicle near Kains Street and took the driver into custody. Breath samples indicated the driver had approximately 130 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood. Officers located cannabis in the vehicle as well. The driver, a thirty three year old St. Thomas man is now charged with one count of Driving Motor Vehicle With More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in 100 Milliliters of Blood, one count Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident and one count Drug Possession.
