Child Pornography Charges Laid
February 9th, 2018 - A fifteen year old St. Thomas youth and his eighteen year old
male accomplice have been arrested and charged by St. Thomas Police with offences
relating to the production and distribution of Child Pornography. The charges were
laid on thursday after the Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) completed an investigation
where a fourteen year old female victim is alleged to have been video taped without
her knowledge during a sex act. The eighteen year old is charged with one count
of Production Of Child Pornography and the fifteen year old is charged with one
count of Production of Child Pornography and one count of Possession of Child Pornography.
Both accused were released on conditions and will appear in court at a later date.
A thirty five year old London man has been arrested and charged with one count of
Theft Under $5000 after he tried to steal five hundred dollars worth of electronics
from the Walmart on Talbot street. Loss prevention officers noticed the man acting
suspicious in the store around 10 am on Wednesday and contacted police after he
proceeded to the parking lot with the stolen merchandise. Police recovered the items
from the trunk of his car. The accused was released on a Promise To Appear In Court.
Wanted Man Arrested In London
A sixty one year old man wanted by St. Thomas Police for Failing to Attend Court
and breaching his release conditions was arrested in London yesterday. London Police
located, arrested and held the man in custody until he could be transferred back
to St. Thomas. The accused remained in custody in St. Thomas for a court appearance.
Street Crimes Unit (SCU) Arrest Drug Dealer
As the result of an investigation by the Street Crimes Unit (SCU) of the St. Thomas
Police Service a St. Thomas man has been arrested. Twenty five year old Mitchell
Vandenbroek is charged with one count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.
Drug officers seized a quantity of suspected Crystal Methamphetamine and Hydromorphone
capsules with a street value totalling over fourteen hundred dollars. Officers also
seized the the motor vehicle Vandenbroek was driving at the time of his arrest as
offence related property. The accused was held in custody pending a court appearance.
Break and Enter to the Brunswick
A thirty two year old St. Thomas man has been arrested and charged with one count
of Break and Enter to Commit Theft and one count of Possession of Break and Enter
Tools after he was arrested inside the Brunswick Tavern after hours. The Talbot
Street bar was already closed when the alarm began to sound around 10;15 pm Thursday
night. When officers arrived on scene they located a door pried open and the accused
inside. The man was taken into custody without incident and was held for court.
