Support for Local Initiatives Helping to Build Strong Communities

February 15, 2018 - Ontario's Government for the People is supporting four organizations in Elgin-Middlesex-London to improve community spaces in the province and expand or adapt projects that are already making a difference in the community.

MPP Jeff Yurek announced today that the following local non-profit and charitable organizations will receive a total of $352,400 through the Ontario Trillium Foundation:

  • Eagle Community Centre to purchase and install two mini split wall air conditioning units, including any required electrical upgrades
  • Elgin International Club to replace the roof and repair water damaged items
  • Municipality of Bayham to demolish a dilapidated shed and reconstruct a pavilion with universal washroom
  • Township of Southwold to build an accessible washroom, pavilion and playground in Shedden Park

"These organizations are delivering initiatives that are already contributing to strong social and cultural communities in Elgin-Middlesex-London," said Jeff Yurek, MPP for Elgin-Middlesex-London. "Through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, our Government for the People is helping them to expand these initiatives, which means they will benefit even more residents in the region."

The province's investment in these not-for-profit projects is expected to bring positive change to 38,621 people in the community.

"It is encouraging to see the great work of so many non-profit organizations in our province," said Minister Tibollo. "I am delighted that our Government for the People is supporting their valuable projects. Through the Ontario Trillium Foundation, we are bringing economic, social, environmental, and health benefits to people across Ontario."
