Proceeds Support the Kettle Creek Watershed

St. Thomas, Ontario - April 17, 2019 - Kettle Creek Environmental Trust (KCET) is pleased to announce that on April 12, 2019 SpellBound 2019 raised $15,000. Proceeds from the fundraiser will support environmental efforts in the Kettle Creek watershed including wetland restoration, environmental education and invasive species control.

Over 100 community members participated in the fifth annual adult spelling bee hosted at St. Anne's Centre. Guests enjoyed an evening of spelling and laughter all while giving back and supporting worthy environmental works. The evening concluded with the announcement of the SpellBound 2019 winner. The recipients of this year's Smarty Pants award was team Financially Speaking made up of members from Bookkeeping Plus in St. Thomas.

"This is KCET's major fundraiser of the year," says Elizabeth VanHooren, a member of the organizing committee. "Since 2015, SpellBound has raised $52,000 to support environmental projects in St. Thomas and the surrounding area."

KCET was founded in 2006 by members of the Kettle Creek watershed community who wanted to ensure that money raised locally for environmental efforts remained local. To learn more about KCET, please visit http://kettlecreektrust.com/
