Dream Lottery set to sell out

Record sales pour in as early sellout looms

London, Ont. - The spring's rainy start hasn't dampened the popularity of Dream Lottery. Dream home tours are going strong, the design and decor have proved popular with visitors and the result has been a deluge of ticket sales. The lottery is approaching 95 per cent sold since its April 18 launch. Organizers anticipate a sell out before next Thursday's Bonus Draw deadline.

The calendar draw is 99 per cent sold and orders are now only available by phone. The 50/50 is within $35,000 of $1 million (the winner takes half). It may break last spring's record $1,024,770. A Dream Lottery ticket must be purchased first, to be able to order calendar or 50/50 tickets.

Once Dream Lottery tickets sell out, the dream homes will close to the public, in order to maximize net proceeds to the beneficiary hospitals. Dream Lottery has raised almost $35 million (net) since 1996 for innovative technology and equipment, ground-breaking research, and continuing medical education and training that enables doctors, nurses and staff to provide exceptional, patient-centred, life-changing care.

"We are grateful for the generous support of our hospitals by the communities of Southwestern Ontario," says St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation President and CEO Michelle Campbell. "The continued success of Dream Lottery is a big win for health care in our region."

To ensure the lottery only takes orders totalling the number of tickets authorized by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, retail sales locations will stop taking orders sometime this week. This includes participating Shoppers Drug Mart stores and participating hospital foundations. If available, tickets will be sold at the London dream homes this weekend. Tickets will continue to be available by phone at 519-488-7100 and on-line at dreamitwinit.ca until the lottery is sold out. 50/50 tickets and any remaining calendars will not be sold after Dream Lottery tickets sell out.

If the lottery does sell out prior to the Early Bird deadline of June 20, the draw date will be moved up, with winners announced on Thursday, July 4. Lottery details, including ticket prices, prizes, important dates and contest rules, can be found at dreamitwinit.ca.

Dream Lottery (LL10699), 50/50 (LL10700), and the Travel & Treasure Calendar (LL10701) are joint ventures of St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation, London Health Sciences Foundation, and Children's Health Foundation. Together St. Joseph's Health Care London, London Health Sciences Centre and Children's Hospital at LHSC receive more than 1.9 million patient visits from across Southwestern Ontario and beyond each year. In addition to caring for London-area residents, the hospitals are referral centres providing specialized services in support of the excellent care of the region's community hospitals.
