I've been thinking about retirement and moving to Port Stanley from Michigan. I
like Canada, went to McGill University in Montreal. Spent a few summer weekends
in Port, nice town.
It seems that Port Stanley may be out of control, with no direction!! What was once
a lovely summer retreat, now looks like it will be overgrown with too many new homes
I hear that the Bridge will be shut down for over a year!! Nice to see the bridge
go up and down, but folk come for the beaches, not the Bridge. $5 Million !! And
a future dredging and storm surge problem! Not a taxpayer friendly future.
A friend told me that garbage pickup will now be four days a week, instead of five.
With little reasoning or advanced discussion! Cost saving ?? It's a tourist town,
and when the weekend folk leave weekly, garbage will be out on the streets for an
extra day before pickup. Could be quite the mess.
So should I move to what may be a dysfunctional village ??
Time will tell.
