Port Stanley News RSS Feed Letters KCCA Increase

October 19, 2018

The Board of Kettle Creek Conservation Authority did not pass a budget. They instructed the staff to prepare a budget of 2% cost of living and an additional 5%. This will be reviewed in the new year after we have received final information on the 2018 year.

The funding from the provincial government has been frozen for over a decade and yet the cost of operating the business and it's mandatory programs of the Conservation Authority has gone up. We continue to look for efficiencies in our operation.

This past year we have installed hydro meters in part of our Dalewood Campground so we could charge campers for actual hydro used and have seen a significant reduction in hydro use.

At my request we have started discussions with Catfish Creek to see what we could do jointly to save money. If we are unable to lower the increase that is being looked at the increase to Central Elgin would be just under $5100. I will continue to work at finding ways to control our costs.

Regards
David Marr
