Truck Flees Accident
August 29th, 2019 - St. Thomas Police are investigating after a truck smashed through
the front window of a downtown business early this morning then fled the scene.
Witnesses report a white F150 pick up truck was travelling northbound on Elgin Street
around 1:15 am when it ran through the intersection at Talbot Street into the front
window of the "Frank About It" business on the north side of Talbot smashing the
large pane front window. The driver reversed out of the business and was last seen
fleeing the area west bound. If you have any information about this incident or

A twenty two year old man was arrested yesterday morning around 9 am by security
at the Elgin County Court House. The man attended the court house on an unrelated
matter when security discovered he was wanted on a warrant by St. Thomas Police
for one count Possession of Stolen Property and two counts Use Stolen Credit Card.
The man was taken into custody without incident and held for court. The charges
stem from an ongoing investigation where the man was recorded on video stealing
from parked cars in the Shaw Valley neighbourhood earlier this month.
A thirty one year old Aylmer man was arrested by security at the Elgin County Court
House yesterday morning around 9 am. The man attended court on an unrelated matter
when security discovered he was wanted on a probation warrant for breaching his
release conditions. The man was taken into custody without incident and held for
Officers arrested a forty year old St. Thomas woman early this morning around 1:30
am on Talbot Street near Woodworth Avenue. The woman was wanted on a bench warrant
after failing to attend court to answer to several break and enter related charges
from an incident back on August 4th. She was taken into custody without incident
and held at the Colin McGregor Justice Building for court.
A twenty three year old St. Thomas man was arrested yesterday evening around 5 pm
by Loss Prevention at the Walmart Store after he was allegedly observed tearing
the tags off of approximately one hundred dollars worth of merchandise and hiding
it in a bag he was carrying. Loss Prevention stopped the man after he tried to leave
the store without paying for the items. Police attended and charged the man with
one count of Theft Under $5000 and he was released on an Appearance Notice for Court.
A thirty three year old Port Stanley woman was arrested yesterday afternoon around
2:30 pm and charged with one count of Fraud and one count Theft Under $5000. The
charges stem from an incident earlier in the day where the woman was recorded on
security video at Walmart shoplifting from the store and trying to return stolen
merchandise at customer service.
