Arrest Made In Mischief to Payphone

August 30th, 2019 - A forty four year old man was arrested early this morning just after midnight on Talbot Street after being identified as the suspect wanted in several thefts from pay phones. Police had received reports from Bell Canada that eight different pay phones across the city had been damaged in the last few weeks. Thieves had pried open the phones rendering them useless stealing change from inside. Officers were able to access security video from the incidents and quickly recognized the suspect. The man was located on Talbot Street and taken into custody without incident. Officers seized several sized pry bars, a small quantity of Hyrdromorphone pills and a flick knife from the man during his arrest. As a result the man is charged one count Mischief to Property, one count Theft Under $5000, one count Possession of Break and Enter Tools, one count Drug Possession-Hydromorphone, one count Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and one count Breach of Release Conditions. He was held at the Colin McGregor Justice Building for Court.

Assault

Police are investigating after a twenty eight year old St. Thomas man was assaulted last evening around 7 pm while walking on South Edgeware Road. The victim reports he had gone to Tim Hortons to get a coffee and was walking back to his residence when he was approached by two men. A verbal altercation escalated to a physical fight with one of the men punching the victim. A short scuffle ensued ending with the suspects leaving the area. Arson

St. Thomas Police are investigating a possible arson attempt. Officers attended an apartment on West Ave last evening just before 9 pm with the St. Thomas Fire Department after an alert citizen called to report seeing smoke coming from the residence. A small fire was quickly extinguished. The apartment was vacant and under renovation at the time of the incident. Break and Enter

St. Thomas Police are investigating after a break and enter to Kettle Creek Landscape early this morning. Preliminary investigation indicated the thieves attended the location on Progress Drive in a Stolen 2006 Ford F350 taken out of London. The stolen truck was used to ram through the bay doors to the business. Once thieves gained entry they stole a 2017 F250 owned by Kettle Creek Landscape with a trailer attached carrying two Walker lawnmowers. The truck had licence plate AW15199 attached to it at the time of the theft and the trailer had licence plate R9112E. The stolen F350 had been seized and towed to the Colin McGregor Justice Building for processing by the Forensic Identification Unit.
