A duet of new works: "It's Your Funeral" and "Buying the Farm" in free public readings
are included as part of PSFT's new expanded Playwright's Festival."
The Port Stanley Festival Theatre is pleased to be holding its sixth annual Playwright's
Festival on Friday September 15th and Saturday September 16th with public readings
of both "It's Your Funeral" (Sept. 15th, 8PM), a new period farce by actor and rooky
playwright Jamie Williams, and "Buying the Farm" (Sept. 16th, 8PM), a new romantic
comedy by actor and first-time playwright, Stephen Sparks, and Gemini winner, Shelley
Featuring actors Karen Parker ("Real Estate" and "Animal Magnetism"), Jeff Culbert
("The Drawer Boy" and "Midnight Madness"), Stephen Sparks ("Wrong for Each Other"),
Matthew Gorman ("Having Hope at Home", "Mending Fences", and "Stag and Doe"), and
Simon Joynes ("Love Letters"), both plays will be presented as public readings followed
by a question/answer session with the playwright and invited audience feedback.
The Port Stanley Playwright's Festival is part of the Port Stanley Festival Theatre's
new play development program, which has in the past produced premiere productions
of: "Not in My Backyard" in 2013, "Bingo Ladies" in 2014, "Birds of a Feather" and
"The Birds and the Bees" in 2016, and "Five Alarm" in 2017.
Admission is free of charge with donations accepted at the door, but seats should
be reserved at the box office.
