Port Stanley, June 27th, 2019 - Today club members from the Port Stanley Lions,
Port Stanley Lioness, and Port Stanley Leos gathered together at the Kettle Creek
Public School on Carlow Road to present a cheque for $8,000 for enhancements to
the schools outdoor playground. Contributions from the Port Stanley Lions were $4,000,
the Port Stanley Lioness gave $3,000, and the Port Stanley Leos gave $1,000 for
a total contribution of $8,000 to the school.
On their journey to add enhancements to the playground, Kettle Creek Public School
conducted a survey of students to learn what types of structures would be wanted.
As you can imagine, the younger grades wanted swings, slides, and climbing structures
while the older grades just wanted a place to sit together out of the sun.
While their fundraising efforts to support the younger grades are underway, they
have had approval from the board to install five Naturalized Tree and Rock seating
areas in their garden area for the older kids. The cost per unit is $2,000 which
includes three large rocks and tree.
