What do you do when you've run a business successfully for a year or more? In Port
Stanley you celebrate by having a party and that's just what Russell House Apparel
and The Store House did on Saturday May 29, 2010.
We all tend to be just a bit on the artsy side in Port, so live music and really
tasty treats are a "must" for any party and beginning at ten in the morning, this
one did not disappoint. Throughout the day guests were treated to the distinctive
musical stylings of Sam Hurrie.
This joint celebration in which the connecting hall between the two establishments
was open, allowing guests to wander freely back and forth, was the first anniversary
for The Store House health food and the third for Russell House Apparel.
Cake, punch and fine nibblies tempted the eye as I walked past the balloons and
into Russell House Apparel. The store was full of guests browsing the latest spring
fashion collection, entering draws, giving in to the temptation of that irresistible
looking cake, or taking advantage of the special discounts being offered. It was
a family affair as Elizabeth's three daughters were on hand to keep things stocked
and assist guests. As I took the hall passage to The Store House I met one of Elizabeth's
daughters coming back through with a big pitcher of punch.
The family affair continued at The Store House, with April Booth, Barb's daughter,
excelling in the role of "proprietess extraordinaire" as she diligently replenished
trays as the healthy and savoury snacks made from the ingredients carried at this
health food store were nibbled up.
Five o'clock rang the closing notes on this fun and successful day for both establishments
and their clientele.
