Upgrade to Flood Watch: March 11, 2013: Kettle Creek Conservation Authority is warning residents in the watershed to stay away from watercourses and ponds.
The overall rainfall throughout the watershed has resulted in high water levels and fast flowing water.
"The water levels are approaching top of bank in most areas throughout the watershed,"” says Joe Gordon, director of operations for Kettle Creek Conservation Authority. "We are anticipating minor flooding in low lying areas this evening in and around St. Thomas and Port Stanley."
The public is encouraged to exercise caution near open bodies of water, including Lake Whittaker and the Dalewood Reservoir and to keep children away from waterways during times of high flow as banks can be slippery and unstable.
This flood watch will remain in effect for the 24 hours. Other updates will be provided if conditions warrant.

March 11, 2013: Kettle Creek Conservation Authority is issuing a Watershed
Conditions Statement - Flood Outlook for residents of the Kettle Creek watershed.
The main concerns at this time are rising creek levels and fast flowing water.
"There was a slow rise in temperatures which helped release the snow pack gradually
into the system, however the forecasted rain will cause water levels to swell and
there is potential for flooding in low lying areas," says Luiza Moczarski, Public
Relations Supervisor for Kettle Creek Conservation Authority. "As ice in Port Stanley
has already been released, problems due to jamming are not expected."
Approximately 15-20 mm of rain is expected in the next 24 hours. Residents are asked
to watch local conditions closely and take appropriate action.
The public is encouraged to exercise caution near ditches, streams, creeks and reservoirs
as the combination of slippery banks and fast flowing water is very dangerous. Parents
in particular are urged to keep their children away from waterways and flood prone
areas during times of high flow.
KCCA will be closely monitoring local conditions throughout the week and will provide
any updates warranted.
