Update: August 9, 2014: It was a black Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling northbound on Sunset Drive that struck a green John Deere tractor hauling a grain wagon in the collision which happened on August 7, 2014 on Sunset Road by Roberts Line, in the Municipality of Central Elgin, ON. The tractor had been traveling northbound on Sunset Drive prior to the collision.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 61 year old male from London, ON, was airlifted to hospital, where he is currently listed in critical condition. The passenger on the motorcycle, a 19 year old female from London, ON, was transported to hospital by ambulance and is currently listed in good condition. The driver of the tractor, a 22 year old male from Dutton-Dunwich, ON, was not injured in the collision.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) were deployed to the area to assist with the investigation.

Police closed a section of Sunset Drive between Roberts Line and Sparta Line for the investigation. The roadway has since been reopened.

Information was received that there were a number of witnesses in the area when the collision occurred. Anyone with information in regards to the collision is asked to call Elgin County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

This incident is still under investigation.

Central Elgin, ON: Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a serious collision on Sunset Road by Roberts Line in the Municipality of Central Elgin.

On August 7, 2014 at approximately 2:45 p.m. police were called to a two vehicle collision involving a large tractor and motorcycle. Both occupants on the motorcycle were transported to hospital, one by ambulance and one was airlifted.

Police currently (4:54 p.m.) have Sunset Drive closed between Roberts Line and Sparta Line as they complete their investigation. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and find alternate routes.

Information was received that there were a number of witnesses in the area when the collision occurred. Anyone with information in regards to the collision is asked to call Elgin County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
