The late afternoon arrival of the tall ships Playfair and Pathfinder just after five o'clock on August 29, 2014 kicked off the Harbourfest Labour Day Weekend in Port Stanley.

Good crowds lined both sides of the harbour as both village residents and visitors came out to watch their arrival. The billowing full sails on a double masted ship as it heads down wind seems to be something no one ever tires of witnessing.

Smaller sail boat escorted the Playfair as she was the first ship into harbour. Paddle boarders and kayakers fell in behind Pathfinder as she followed her sister ship into Port. The crowds waived and craned their necks to see the crew hanging off the top masthead of Pathfinder. Tickets for tours of these ships and rides on them are available dockside.
