On December 10th, 2013 at 1:30 in the morning, Julia Blackmore, her husband Ian, their daughter Becky and her boyfriend Brad White and their baby Cameron, lost their home to a fire at 9 Pinehurst Place in St Thomas, Ontario. Julia is the sister of Sondra Budd, former proprietor of Barber on the Habor in Port Stanley, Ontario.

They also lost their 10 year old pet dog named Honey and their pet cats and kittens. They managed to save 2 kittens, Julia and Ian's other dog "Mia", Brad & Becky's dog "Pebbles" and a dog named "Tank", who Brad and Becky had found tied to a lamp post over a year ago and rescued. This family are animal lovers and genuinely giving and helpful people. They have not yet recovered other cats or kittens missing since the fire.

While all the family members were asleep, Julia had stayed up to watch TV. She was awake when the fire broke out in a china cabinet light fixture, and she was able to alarm her family and get them all out safely. The house is substantially damaged and all contents are destroyed.

Following the fire, Julia and Ian discovered that their insurance had expired in October of this year without their knowledge and they have no coverage at all. Julia and her husband are still responsible for the mortgage payments and now have the added expense of hotel rooms and the cost to rebuild and refurnish their home as well as replace eye glasses and personal items.

The Blackmore's and Brad are staying at the Comfort Inn while searching for a temporary home. Anyone wishing to contribute to assist this devastated family can stop by in person at 195 Balaclava St. St Thomas, or deposit your contribution at any branch of the TD Canada Trust: Account # 0100-6450865 "VivienBudd/SondraBudd/JuliaBlackmore in trust". Cheques should be made out to: Vivien Budd/Sondra Budd/Julia Blackmore in trust.

Julia, Sondra and the family wish to thank in advance all persons who are able to contribute to their needs at this time.
