St. Thomas' finest have stepped up to support the Great Expansion of the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. The St. Thomas Police Association has committed $15,000 towards the largest investment in our award-winning Hospital since it was built in 1954. This gift brings the Foundation one step closer to our overall $13 million fundraising goal for this transformational project. To date, nearly $11 million has been pledged or paid.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to have partnered with the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation to improve the healthcare for our entire community by making a gift towards the Great Expansion of STEGH," says St. Thomas Police Association President, Constable Brian Kempster. "Our services are mutually supportive - that is, to help the community by providing the best care possible. An investment in OUR Hospital affirms the importance we place on having access to excellent healthcare within St. Thomas and Elgin County."

STEGH will see the construction of a new building that will house an Emergency Department, Surgical Suite, a permanent home for our Mental Health program, and a Sterile Processing Department. The Foundation is leading the $13 million capital campaign to help fund the "Great Expansion" and has raised nearly $11 million to date.

This project will enable OUR Hospital to keep pace with a dynamic and changing healthcare system that provides our community with a local state-of-the-art healthcare facility. As a Provincial leader in ER wait times, the Great Expansion will only improve an increasingly high performing Hospital.

"The Great Expansion will ensure our community members and their families receive the healthcare they deserve ... during each visit, at every stage of life, and most importantly, as close to home as possible. We are grateful for the support of the St. Thomas Police Association in helping us achieve our fundraising goal," explains Paul Jenkins, Executive Director.

The community is invited to join the St. Thomas Police Association in support of the incredible transformations taking place at STEGH. There are many ways individuals, businesses and civic organizations to get involved and the best place to start is by visiting

The St. Thomas Police Association is a non-profit organization that is committed to assisting other non-profit and charitable organizations in our community as well as meeting the needs of the men and women employed by the St. Thomas Police Service (both uniform and civilian employees).
