Back for it's 3rd year, the Shamrock Shuffle will have feet hitting the pavement again this year for a good cause. Taking place on Saturday, March 15th, 2014, the Shamrock Shuffle is a family oriented fun run/ walk that raises funds for the local homeless shelter in St. Thomas, Inn out of the Cold.

The joint vision of local running enthusiasts, the Shamrock Shuffle has raised $27, 000 for Inn out of the Cold over the last 2 years, and has no intention of stopping. The community immediately embraced the event, which has seen over 300 participants each year.

"We wanted to find a way to give back to the community, and running was a common interest among our group of friends so it seemed like a natural fit," says Kathi Joliffe, one of the co-founders. "We want to encourage families to get outside and get active together with the added bonus of helping out a good cause." The event offers a 10k and 5k run as well as a 5k and 2k walk so people of all ages and stages can participate.

As for the Inn, the funds generated by the Shamrock Shuffle have allowed them to purchase beds for those with mobility issues, lap tops, and a much-needed washer and dryer amongst other items. Inn out of the Cold operates November to April each year and provides those in need with a warm meal, safe place to stay, shower and breakfast during the cold months.

To learn more about the event or to register visit www.theshamrockshuffle.ca

We are still looking for sponsors to help alleviate the costs of running the event. Sponsorships allow us to keep entry fees low, making the event more accessible to community members.

The event starts at 8:00 a.m. at Central United Church - 135 Wellington Street, St. Thomas On
