 KCCA Celebrates One Million Trees

Over the past twelve years, and with the support of hundreds of landowners and Ontario Power Generation, KCCA has planted 900,000 trees and is on track to plant the one-millionth tree in June 2013.

As a thank you for helping us to reach this milestone, every landowner who orders trees by January 31, 2013 will receive a free large stock tree.

"As always, seedlings are just 25 cents. So there really is no better time to plant a tree," says Christina Baranik, acting stewardship coordinator for KCCA. There is a minimum order of 200 seedlings; additional discounts may be available for larger plantings and if 750 trees or more are purchased, the cost covers planting by KCCA staff and weed control.

Order your Trees by January 31st, 2013 (deadline has been extended):

  • Receive 1 large stock tree
  • 1 ballot in the grand prize draw

Refer a New Landowner who Orders and Plants Trees:

  • Receive 5 ballots in the grand prize draw

Plant and Order 1 hectare or more (1,750+) Trees:

  • Receive 10 ballots in the grand prize draw

Grand Prize winner will:

  • Be named KCCA's Master Tree Planter for 2013
  • Plant the ceremonial one-millionth tree
  • Win a prize pack (Trees in Canada book, free weekend of camping and much more!)

What makes an ideal home?

KCCA is specifically looking for landowners who may have marginal pastures or crop lands that they wish to retire. Trees are also available for creating wildlife corridors, windbreaks, and for the rehabilitation of streambanks.

"Qualified staff will visit your site to determine soil conditions and identify what tree species would grow best in those conditions," says Miss Baranik. "For 25 cents a tree you can increase your property value and help to fight climate change. It's a great investment in the future."
