Artist Cheryl Garret-Jenkins with The Ball Judged Best of Show

The opening reception of the ever popular Portside Gallery Miniature Art Show in Port Stanley was well attended on February 2, 2014 and once again contains an amazing collection of intriguing, rare and exquisite miniature art. This year the judge was Kim Harrison.

Best of Show: The Ball by Cheryl Garret-Jenkins
Stained Glass: Judge's Comments: Cheerful and elegant in drawing, composition & colour

An amazing artist in stained glass, Cheryl explained how first the image is drawn, then transformed to use as the stained glass pattern, and how each colour must be fired separately and in the right order to maintain clarity and vibrancy of the colours. Cherly also has the Rubyeyes Kraftwerks studio gallery in Port Stanley.

Honourable Mention: Fall #4 by Diane Dobson
Acrylic: Judge's Comments: Bold, fresh & simple but not easy

Honourable Mention: Winter's Chill by Jerry Cutting
Photo Graphic: Judge's Comments: Meditative, manageing to be gorgeous AND exquisite

Honourable Mention: Pieface by Gabrielle Nowicki
Graphite/Paper Judge's Comments: So still, the apprehensive expression is endearing. Articulated & imaginative

The show runs at the Portside Gallery, located at 187 1/2 Main Street in Port Stanley, until the end of February. Drop in to view some of these incredible works.
