A drive down to the circle jerk at the beach end of William Street in Port Stanley will quickly acquaint you the watermain work currently being done for William Street and Carlow Road.

South of Edith Cavell Blvd., William is now closed except for local traffic. With the pavement dug up, large holes excavated and plastic watermain lengths of pipe laying on the roadway, navigation of the area is hazardous, even on foot.

Mackies parking lot can be accessed from the municipal lot beside GT's, if you enter it from Edith Cavell Blvd. The Buccaneer parking lot is accessible only by going around the "Road Closed" sign - which a number of people were doing on Sunday, January 20, 2013.

The municipal parking lot across the road from Mackies and behind Pizzaworx is not accessible as it is being used for storing heavy construction equipment and dug up, broken pieces of road asphalt.

The area was quite busy on Sunday, with both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. It may be that a number of people wanted to get a look at the on-going project.

This area may be restricted access for a while as the project is not expected to be completed until sometime in March 2013.
