As of December 1st, 2013, the public can help support Children's Hospital at
London Health Sciences Centre by making a donation at all LCBO stores throughout
Ontario. Donation boxes for Children's Health Foundation will be displayed at LCBO
checkout counters until January 4, 2014. As part of LCBO's annual Giving Back In
Our Community campaign, customer service representatives will also invite
customers to add a $2, $5 or $10 donation to their purchase until January 4, 2014.
During this period, LCBO's Giving Back In Our Community in-store prompted
and donation box fundraising campaign raises funds for Ontario's four regional children's
hospitals and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD Canada). These hospitals include
Children's Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre, supported by Children's Health
Foundation, McMaster Children's Hospital Foundation, SickKids Foundation and CHEO
Foundation. The funds raised for MADD Canada support its School Assembly Program.
Funds raised for Children's Health Foundation through the LCBO campaign will help
purchase two Giraffe OmniBed incubators for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
at Children's Hospital. These incubators are the first "home" for many babies in
need of critical care by providing a warm, safe environment needed to support a
fragile baby's growth and development.
"We are so grateful for the continued support of the LCBO, its employees and especially
its customers," says Susan Crowley, Children's Health Foundation President and CEO.
"Money raised through the Giving Back In Our Community campaign will help
give tiny newborns from across Southwestern Ontario the best possible start in life."
"We are proud to partner with Children's Health Foundation for the annual Giving
Back In Our Community campaign," says LCBO President & CEO Bob Peter.
"The generosity of LCBO customers and staff help these Ontario-based organizations
that make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people. With the public's
support, we hope to exceed the record $2.9 million raised last December."
Children's Health Foundation is one of 28 provincial, as well as numerous local
charities, that will benefit from LCBO's province-wide donation box program in 2013.
In 2012, LCBO raised more than $6.6 million for Ontario-based charities through
special programs and initiatives, of which $6.1 million was raised through in-store
fundraising. In addition, LCBO's annual dividend transfer to the Ontario government,
which totaled $1.7 billion in fiscal 2012-13, excluding taxes, supports a wide range
of important government programs, services and priorities, including health care,
education and infrastructure.
Children's Health Foundation thanks the public for its support when shopping at
their local LCBO store from December 1, 2013 - January 4, 2014.
