Owner Carol Gates at GT's
The party of the summer is happening tonight at GT's Beach Bar & Grill as they
celebrate their 20th Anniversary on the beach in Port Stanley. The party starts
at 7:00 p.m. and everybody is invited!
GT's Beach Bar & Grill opened on Port Stanley's main beach in August of 1993.
"When Mark was building the deck we're sitting on and adding all the benches, locals
kept asking him what he was doing, saying this is Port Stanley, man and implying
he'd never fill them," current owner Carol Gates recounted about original owner
Mark Mishrikey. "He finally put up caution tape around the project, afraid he was
going to lose his shirt," Carol laughed.
Well, Mark did not lose his shirt. GT's became one of the most popular places in
Port Stanley. Carol came to work at GT's for one fun summer in 1994 and not only
stayed, but bought the place with her husband Andy in 2009. This year GT's was voted
#1 in the CNN Best Beach Bar Facebook poll. Not bad for a humble beginning.
Tonight GT's is celebrating their 20th Anniversary in style. Seating is on a "first
come, first serve" basis, with retro pricing all night long - all food will be 40%
off and all bottled drinks will also be discounted. People are invited to dress
1990's style and Big Wiggle will be playing from 8:00 p.m. to midnight. GT's
will be giving away $1993 in gift cards, plus Elgin Chrysler will be on hand giving
away tons of prizes!
So come on down to the best beach party this summer and join the fun!
