Rumours have abounded in Port Stanley the last few days that four men, all Port
Stanley residents, were arrested for the theft of and damage to the OPP boat. The
facts, as follow, are one St Thomas man has been arrested in relation to the incident
and police are seeking one Port Stanley man.
Elgin County OPP Crime Unit has arrested one male and a second male is wanted in
connection with the theft and destruction of the Elgin County OPP Police Boat in
the early morning hours of June 25, 2014.
Police have arrested and charged Michael James LARSON, age 20 of St. Thomas, Ontario,
in connection with the theft and arson of the police boat. He was arrested without
incident on Saturday June 28th, 2014. He has been charged with:
- 1. Theft Over $5,000
- 2. Arson
LARSON remains in custody pending a show cause bail hearing scheduled for today,
June 30, 2014.
A second male, Gerald Robert JACQUES (aka J.J.), age 37 of Port Stanley, Ontario,
is currently wanted in connection with the theft and arson. He has been charged
- 1. Theft Over $5000
- 2. Arson
- 3. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
JACQUES is described as a white male, age 37 standing 188cm (6'2" tall) and weighing
93kg (205lbs). He has brown hair, a brush cut, blue eyes, and facial hair on the
bottom of his chin. He has a tattoo of an anchor on his right forearm and a tattoo
of the Greek god Neptune on his left forearm. Police believe JACQUES is avoiding
