January 10th Update: Due to ongoing developments in the current labour dispute
between the province and the elementary teachers, parents are advised to monitor
the media and Thames Valley websites for the latest information about whether schools
will be open or closed Friday, January 11, 2013.
Although the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) has announced a province-wide
walkout at elementary schools on Friday, January 11, 2013, the province has applied
for a cease and desist order to prevent the job action.
It is advisable for parents and guardians to maintain their supervision plans for
their children, as the outcome of the cease and desist order is unknown at this
time.
A decision on whether schools will be open or closed will be made by 6 a.m. on Friday,
January 11, 2013 and posted to the Thames Valley District School Board's website
www.tvdsb.on.ca. All school
websites will be updated on an ongoing basis to provide current information on the
status of labour issues.
