Are you interested in creating a more active community? Elgin St. Thomas Public Health is starting a new committee for people that are interested in promoting running, walking and cycling within Elgin St. Thomas.

A group of interested citizens met recently and decided to hold monthly meetings to work towards creating a culture of being active within Elgin St. Thomas. The next meeting is February 11th, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Elgin St. Thomas Public Health (located at 99 Edward Street, St. Thomas). The group plans to continue to meet monthly on the 2nd Monday of the month.

Some of the draft objectives of this new committee will include:

  • to build a community culture that supports active transportation;
  • to build a healthier, accessible and connected community;
  • to promote the safe use of local trails and pathways;
  • to advocate for new and improved active transportation routes including amenities for cycling, hiking, walking, running and rolling in Elgin St. Thomas.

If you are interested in more information, attending a meeting or becoming involved, please contact Erica Arnett, Health Promoter at 519-631-9900 ext 1247 or via email at earnett@elginhealth.on.ca
