The Active Elgin Coalition is pleased to announce the 2013 Active Elgin Guide will be delivered to all homes in St. Thomas and Elgin County on Thursday, January 24, 2013.

This year the Active Elgin guide has even more sports, leisure and recreational activities listed for people of all ages and abilities. There are a range of activities such as; joining a sports team, taking an art class, walking programs, martial arts, music and dance classes. The Active Elgin guide has something for everyone.

This year, plan to spend time outdoors exploring the various hiking trails that weave through the local conservation areas in Elgin County. Being active and surrounded by nature has health benefits and creates a sense of well-being. Walk, hike, run or go cross country skiing and enjoy nature while gaining the health benefits of being active. Check the Active Elgin Guide for more information on the various activities and events offered by the Catfish Creek, Kettle Creek and Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authorities.

The Active Elgin Coalition is committed to building healthy communities and to making sports, leisure and recreational information easier to find. This year, Active Elgin is launching a new survey to gauge our effectiveness and identify ways to improve the website www.activeelgin.on.ca and guide. Complete the survey today by going to this website for your chance to win one of three seasonal passes to a local Conservation Authority (Catfish Creek, Kettle Creek and the Lower Thames Valley). In doing so, you will help us to provide better service to you, your family and the organizations listed with Active Elgin.

Members of the Active Elgin Coalition includes: Central Community Health Centre, City of St. Thomas, East Elgin Community Complex, Elgin St. Thomas Public Health, Elgin-St. Thomas Tourism Services, Ontario Early Years Elgin-Middlesex-London, West Elgin Community Health Centre, and the YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin.

For more information about Active Elgin or the Active Elgin on-line survey contact Pam Ewart via email at pewart@elginhealth.on.ca via phone at 519-631-9900 ext. 1258.
