Special weather statement in effect for:

  • City of Winnipeg

..A late season snowfall on the way..

The work week will be starting off on a wintery note over southern Manitoba as a storm system takes shape south of the international border. The storm system is expected to develop over the Dakotas Monday and track into northern Minnesota Monday night spreading a large area of precipitation over southern Manitoba. At this time, it looks like much of the Red River Valley and southeast Manitoba will be seeing 5 to 10 cm of snow from this system beginning Monday morning with the potential of 10 to 15 cm in some areas before it tapers off Monday night. Precipitation will likely mix with rain or ice pellets over southeast Manitoba Monday before changing to snow Monday night. The system is expected to be out of southern Manitoba by Tuesday morning.

Snowfall warnings may be issued for some regions as more information becomes available on this developing system. The public is advised to monitor updated forecasts and statements and to prepare for a return to winter weather conditions Monday over southern Manitoba.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.storm.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #MBStorm.
