Berm Remediation Brought Into Question
click here to view details!  In what was otherwise a short and almost uneventful council meeting on October 20, 2014, Central Elgin raised the stakes by passing a resolution calling for Transport Canada to live up to its Port Stanley Harbour Divestiture agreement to remediate the berm, detailing incompetencies by Transport Canada, Public Works and Government Services Canada as the reasons for the delays. full story

On October 15, 2014, eligible Internet service providers (ISP) were invited to apply for funding to extend or enhance service to areas in need across the country. full story

HCE Wants to Save a Silo
click here to view details!  At their meeting of October 14, 2014 two letters from Heritage Central Elgin (HCE) and a delegation urged the out-going Central Elgin Council to save one of the cement silos at the former harbourside Richardson property. However, no documentation showing the costs involved in such re-purposing, no market research proving the re-purposing would be a revenue generator, and no analysis of the impact preserving one of the silos might have on future harbour redevelopment was produced. full story
